South Texas College’s Continuing and Professional Education Program, along with ed2go, introduces two new courses to help event professionals succeed in an increasingly competitive market.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics predicts that employment of event planners will increase by 20 percent by 2016, opening up many opportunities for talented, skilled executives.
With the Event Management and Design Course students can get a leg up in the profession learning practical knowledge and gaining a comprehensive understanding of the modern special event industry, including presentation and service skills.

And students can add to their event-planning skill sets by taking Adobe Photoshop CS4 to learn graphics editing software. In the hands-on, project-oriented course, students will master editing photos, creating basic paintings and preparing images for printing. It requires no prior experience with graphic design, making it the perfect foray to learn how to prepare event materials.

Through the courses students can learn at their own pace, gaining valuable knowledge through well-crafted lessons, expert online instruction, and interaction with fellow students. And students can access the classroom 24/7 from anywhere with an Internet connection. The courses are part of STC's growing catalog of more than 300 instructor-facilitated online courses.

New sessions of each course start every month and last six weeks, with two new lessons being released weekly. The courses are entirely Web-based with comprehensive lessons, quizzes, and assignments. A dedicated professional instructor facilitates every course, pacing learners, answering questions, giving feedback and facilitating discussions.
