Is your existing business ready to expand globally?  Businesses planning for growth are invited to attend the “Export Symposium:  Make the World Your Market!” on Tuesday, March 30th from 8am to 4pm at the Lone Star National Bank Corporate Office Conference Hall located at 520 E. Nolana in McAllen.

The Symposium is presented by UTPA Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and sponsored by the McAllen Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Lone Star National Bank.

The free event teaches business owners how they can access the necessary information to be successful in the global marketplace and covers the help available through the U.S. Export Assistance Center.  The event will also help attendees determine their reasons for exporting, recognize export risks, observe common export mistakes, know the export logistics process and identify export financing resources.

“Companies that are either export-ready or have exportable products should attend” added Trade Coordinator Javier Martinez III, who works for the UTPA Small Business Development Center in Edinburg.  Martinez, a Certified Global Business Professional, assists local companies with trade information and guidance.  “This is a great opportunity for those that want to expand their business to our neighboring country of Mexico to come and learn all the steps to setting up your business” points out Cynthia M. Sakulenzki, MHCC Pres/CEO.

To register for this free conference or for further information, please contact the McAllen Hispanic Chamber at 928-0060.  A continental breakfast and light lunch will be served.

SBDC, partially funded by the U.S. Small business Administration and the University of Texas Pan American, seeks to promote economic growth and business development in the Rio Grande Valley.

It does so by offering confidential one-on-one counseling, assistance in the business plan development, and business training on a variety of business topics.  The SBDC is part of the Business Development & Innovation Group at UTPA with its main office located at the UTPA Annex, 2412 S. Closner in Edinburg.
