UPDATE: Falcon waters arrive in Hidalgo County, next hours are critical

HURRICANE ALEX SITUATION UPDATE FOR HIDALGO COUNTY

Edinburg, Texas - Hidalgo County officials have just been notified that the peaked river flow from Falcon Dam arrived at to the interior floodway in Hidalgo County at Anzalduas at approximately 4:00 pm today.

The next 6-12 hours are critical to ensure the floodway system can withstand the rising waters. Falcon Dam discharges are expected to continue at a rate of 60,000 cubic feet per second over the next five days. Isolated showers throughout the area could exacerbate the situation.

Hidalgo County emergency management officials continue to closely monitor the floodway and remain prepared to respond to situations accordingly.
