Seale Realty Advisors appointed by International Council of Shopping Centers for Texas border cities

DALLAS (August 24, 2010) – Alice Seale of Seale Reality Advisors announces that she has been appointed by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) to create Texas Border ICSC regional meetings. 

The Texas Border ISCS will include the cities of El Paso, Del Rio, Laredo, McAllen, Edinburg, Harlingen, Pharr, Weslaco, Mercedes, Brownsville, and South Padre Island.  Seale and her program committee will develop opportunities for ongoing education, networking, and an exchange of ideas in all aspects of the shopping center development industry.   Seale is establishing a local office along the border.

Committee members from Texas border cities include Sam Barnard, Coastal Realty; Alex Meade, P3 Economics; Tina Wolfe, Hunt Development Group; Richard Rotwein, Mimco; Claiborne Gallagher, RHL Real Estate Consultants; Jessica Herrera, City of El Paso; Orlando Navarro, B. P. Newman Investment Co.; and Jim Collins, Mayfair Properties, LLC.

“The economic impact of Mexican visitors to our Texas border towns is significant whether they come to shop, dine, vacation or visit family and friends,”  said Seale.  “The goal of the regional meetings is to educate retailers and real estate professionals of the market opportunities.”

Teclo Garcia, director of government affairs for the city of McAllen, commented, “Some national retailer chains determine their sales goals while not understanding the impact of the Mexican National demographics on their revenue opportunities. They locate in space that ends up being too small for their sales volume due to the spending of the Mexican National traveling across the border.”

The newly formed committee is hosting an inaugural event, Wednesday, September 29, at the McAllen Country Club.  The event will include a retail market tour of the Rio Grande Valley shopping centers.  

Attendees will have an opportunity hear a panel comprised of 4 to 5 leading retailers to learn about business trends, strategy and store expansion plan along the Texas border.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with select retailers about cross-border expansion opportunities.  Contact Seale at aseale@sealerealtyadvisors.com or icsc.org/meetings for more information.
