Edinburg --- The Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) chapter at The University of Texas-Pan American received its second consecutive Achieving Chapter Excellence (ACE) Award at the KDP national conference and centennial convocation recently at Indianapolis, Ind.
Kappa Delta Pi presents the award each biennium to chapters that exhibit outstanding programming in support of the society’s mission and strategic goals. Only 24 out of 665 chapters were named ACE Award winners for 2009-2011.
UTPA’s chapter members also received several other awards including: Celine Valadez, chapter president, who received the competitive Distinguished Chapter Award; Dr. Veronica Lopez-Estrada, who received the Counselor Service Award for 15 Years of Service, the Chapter Literacy Alive Project Award (Family Literacy Nights), the Chapter Challenge Award, and the Educational Foundation Award.
UTPA’s Kappa Delta Pi chapter is the past recipient of the ACE award in 2009, the chapter award that has the highest level of excellence based on ACE criteria. TBB
