Edinburg --- The City of Edinburg will honor former Mayor Joe Ochoa on Friday June 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to unveil “Joe Ochoa Avenue.”
The new road was built across from the main entrance of UTPA and will provide a North/South access from University Drive to Fay, Cano, Mahl and Stubbs Streets. Joe Ochoa Avenue will also accommodate the proposed new school bus routes in order to relieve congestion on Sprague and Sugar.
The ceremony will take place on West 107 between Dairy Queen and El Pato. To access Joe Ochoa Avenue for the ceremony take Fay, Cano, Mahl or Stubbs Street. The entrance from 107 will be closed. TBB
