McAllen --- Do you want to do business with The United States and the State of Texas? How about with Corporate America? Then join the thousands of minority and women owned business owners who have taken the time to get 8-A and HUB certified and now have contracts worth millions of dollars. Join the RGV Hispanic Chamber, SBA and the UTPA HUB Program at a free workshop on Tuesday, June 19th from 9 to 11am at the RGVHCC offices located at 3313 N. McColl Rd. in McAllen and learn what needs to be done to become certified.
The 8-A Business Development Program assists socially or economically disadvantaged firms that are interested in federal government contracting. Federal government agencies awards a percentage of their contracts to certified 8-A firms and participants are eligible to receive sole-source contracts and allowed to form joint ventures to bid on contracts. Also being discussed is the HUB Program and its’ benefits. “Becoming a certified HUB business provides businesses with increased exposure to buyers across the state” said Cynthia M. Sakulenzki, RGVHCC Pres/CEO. “Minority women owned businesses are especially sought by Corporate America”, she added.
“We recommend that companies start taking steps to become certified and become eligible to bid on million dollar contracts that are available to minority owned businesses. Attending this workshop will definitely be your first step.” Sakulenzki stated.
To register for the free workshop call the RGVHCC office at 928-0060. There is limited seating so an early registration is recommended. TBB
