Weslaco --- In partnership with the Weslaco Chamber of Commerce and United Blood Services, Miss Weslaco 2012 Kaitlin Hoppenstedt will be hosting a blood drive at the Weslaco Business-Visitor & Event Center on Thursday, June 28 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. inside the United Blood Services Mobile Unit. As Miss Weslaco 2012 and an active volunteer at United Blood Services, Kaitlin wanted to engage the community and raise awareness on the importance of donating blood.
“Community is very important to me, and it brings me happiness if I can do anything that will help people,” remarked Kaitlin. “I want us to help the patients in our hospitals and people who are ill, people who need blood and blood products to help them survive and live healthy lives.”
Anyone interested in donating blood should remember to eat before donating to avoid dizziness. Regular blood donors are encouraged to bring your blood donor identification card to expedite the process. For more information on the Weslaco Chamber of Commerce and its events, visit www.weslaco.com. TBB
