Girl Scouts honors Val LaMantia Peisen at 100th Anniversary Award of Distinction Gala

Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas will honor McAllen resident Val LaMantia Peisen at their eighth annual Award of Distinction Gala in July in celebration of 100 years

          McAllen --- Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas will honor McAllen resident Val LaMantia Peisen at their eighth annual Award of Distinction Gala in July in celebration of 100 years. The event will be a reception and dinner honoring LaMantia Peisen as an outstanding citizen who has dedicated her life to serving the community.

          Throughout the years, LaMantia Peisen has been committed to serving many organizations including the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas, Boys and Girls Club, International Museum of Arts & Science, Hispanic & McAllen Chamber of Commerce, McAllen Park and Recreation, McAllen Youth Soccer, and the UTPA Development Board. She currently serves on the board for South Texas Academic Rising Scholars (STARS) Scholarship Fund, the Texas Business Council, Valley Proud Environment Council and the UT Pan American Development Board.

          LaMantia Peisen has also been an active part of the business community in South Texas for over 30 years. She serves as a partner in L&F Distributors, one of the largest Anheuser-Busch distributors in Texas. L&F Distributors currently employs over 1,000 individuals and covers 35 counties in the states of Texas and New Mexico.

          Girl Scouts of the USA was formed in 1912. For over 100 years, the organization has taught girls the values of courage, confidence and character. Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts with these things in mind and now there are more than 3 million Girl Scouts nation wide.

          The Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Award of Distinction Gala will take place at the McAllen Convention Center on Thursday, July 26 at 6:30 p.m. Funds raised from the event will benefit the Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas Outreach Program which allows girls in the Valley the opportunity to participate in Girl Scout programming who may not normally get that opportunity.
