Rep. Donna Howard visits The University of Texas-Pan American campus

Edinburg --- UTPA President Robert S. Nelsen and Vice President for University Advancement Veronica Gonzales welcomed State Representative Donna Howard from Austin to campus recently. Rep. Howard, a former colleague and desk mate of Gonzales when the Texas Legislature would meet at the state capitol, was invited to UTPA to learn about the university and its agenda as she prepares for the 83rd legislative session set to start Jan. 8. Rep. Howard, who sits on the Higher Education Committee, heard from Nelsen, Gonzales, members of the Student Government Association and other groups about a number of issues, including the need for state funding to build more facilities, which will allow for more space as the institution plans for future growth. As part of her visit, Rep. Howard took the time to pose in front of the UTPA Bronc statute where Nelsen and Gonzales made her an official Bronc. TBB
