Friday, August 10th, 2012

Texas Border Business ---

BROWNSVILLE – The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College’s Office of Enrollment Management encourages students who are planning on returning this fall to attend the “Get it Done! Finish What You Started” event from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 in Tandy Hall.

“Get It Done! Finish What You Started” is designed to help students who have had to stop their education for any reason return to college and complete their degree.

“We are offering one last opportunity for our community and students who have had to stop their education to get advised and register for classes this fall,” said René Villarreal, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Incoming first-time freshmen who have not yet registered for classes but do not need to attend orientation and have already been admitted are also encouraged to stop by. The event is not targeted toward first-time freshmen who have not yet begun the admission procedure.

Registration for courses will be available in-person. The event, which is open to the public, will include assistance with registration, academic advising, clearing blocks, paying tuition, assistance in applying for scholarship and vaccinations for undergraduate and graduate students. There will be drawings for $50 book vouchers.

Representatives from the Offices of Academic Advising, Registrars’, Financial Aid, Transfer Student Relations, Testing, Online Learning and the Veterans Resource Center will be on-hand to assist students.

“Time is running out,” Villarreal said. “If potential students are undecided about attending TSC and UTB, this is their opportunity to make that final decision.”
