“I’m an educator from way back, and this kind of event gives us an opportunity to network and keep in touch with other board members,” said Region One Vice-Chairperson Manuel Gomez Jr. “We feel very grateful and look forward to promoting education.”

Each partnering institution or school district’s superintendent and board members received a framed certificate from the STC Board of Trustees recognizing the collaboration and commitment to work together for the success and well-being of all students.

Leadership from many of STC’s educational partners were in attendance, including Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District, La Joya Independent School District, Hidalgo Independent School District, Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District, Region One Education Service Center, Mission Consolidated Independent School District, South Texas Independent School District, Juan Diego Academy Catholic Regional High School, and McAllen Independent School District.

“McAllen ISD has developed an excellent relationship with STC through the years,” said McAllen ISD Board President Conrado Alvarado. “For example, our Achieve Early College High School is housed at the STC Pecan Campus. The students are able to go through our system and get a head start on college through the partnership with STC.”
